As I read Ed's description of retirement I became envious and happy for him at the same time. It sounds absolutely exquisite. I have learned many things from Ed Shank. I have learned how unique and interesting it is to have a paperclip collection (framed nonetheless!). I will always be indebted to Ed for teaching me how to check all the boxes at the highest levels on surveys so you will receive the best magazines (it works!). I also learned we share an absolute passion for Starbucks Morning Blend brewed in the oldest coffe pot possible for the best flavor! But more importantly, I have watched Ed and tried to model his professionalism and calm when working with people. That has served me well, and I would like to thank Ed for being a wonderful teacher, probably when he didn't even know he was teaching! Ed, thank for your creative genius and for being a great friend. There is no doubt you will be missed. Enjoy this time - you've earned it!

You can fish in the sandals, just work on the wall in "steel toes". Thanks for your ever present state of calm.

Ed --

Your words paint a beautiful and eloquent picture of retirement. Your simple pleasures likely hold more enjoyment than most of us can fathom. Yours was always a calming and intellectual presence in meetings. With all of the endeavors you describe in your farewell message, it appears that your inner peace and your intellect will serve you equally as well in retirement as they did in your career. This much you have earned. Best of luck and health.
